Hi EP,

Falling knife???

You could be right. There's really no telling for sure just how far they could fall before hitting an eventual bottom. However, I suspect that world powers have already been assured by Putin's people that nothing has changed, and that everything will proceed as previously discussed. For Japan and China, that would mean reassurances on the pipeline deals. For the USA and Europe, that would mean a continued flow of oil from Siberia. I have a sneaky hunch that this whole escapade may blow over much quicker than anyone thinks, with Putin coming out on top. I was quite surprised by how relatively muted the official response of the world powers has been, and therefore that leads me to believe that Putin had sent out advance notice so that no major power was taken by surprise.
