| I looked at your comments on Sharks. The soul is our irreducible self. Ontologically, it is connected to the body, but not a product of the body. Rather, it is the central point of will and awareness that integrates our existence, and, like a point, is has position but not dimension. It is indestructible, except by God, but it is also not naturally fitted to maneuver without a body, as an angel might be. Thus, after death we are necessarily dependent upon the aid of other spiritual beings in order not to be lost. To a great extent, we are becoming the sort of beings that attract benign aid and a network of support, or the sort of beings who do not. One definition of Heaven is that it is the place where "stand up guys" go, that is, the sort of people who are kind, brave, honesty, trustworthy, responsible, and will do their best not to let people down........... |
