Wow - that's a fairly "immoderate" post on a "moderate" thread.

It's been discussed on this thread that getting help ain't as easy as it sounds. In all likelihood, the UN, particularly the French and Russians are bluffing and would not come up with anywhere near enough in either funds or troops.

I agree with the thought of calling the UN bluff and giving whatever control they want within reason. That would also put to rent any real or imagined theories that the US went to war to make money in some weird way.

As for Israel - there's certainly no evidence that if Israel retreated to defensible borders, the Palestinians would ever be able to control their terrorists. Arafat has too much invested and has been able, with his cohorts, to skim off an estimated $1 billion or more from funds that the people would sorely need.

This is not the time for naive, cutesy solutions like "get out" "get back" - basically does what many accuse the Bush administration of doing.
