Yes, Ya'alon disagrees on tactics - and it's creating quite a fuss because he leaked it to the papers.

In war, which tactics are are the best is something that is generally fully discernible only after they are tried. For example, the chorus of voices saying that the bombing Belgrade in the Kosovo war as counterproductive was very loud and long - until Milosevic caved. If he hadn't caved, the chorus would have been triumphant.

So far, the Palestinian response seems to be not so much caving as disintegrating - as the violent semi-chaos that Arafat fosters devolves into just plain chaos as Arafat weakens and moves off the scene.
