Everybody's HQ's, corporate or otherwise, refers to their home base as 'office', but that's not what Thomas wrote. He mentioned the 'Army Special Services Office" as though it was a specific unit name. Of course, there isn't any. Also, he could've corrected me right there and then and didn't...err..couldn't.

You're suggesting that the word 'force' was an insider term used by members of the USO, but Thomas used the word 'force' as though everybody would understand exactly what he meant. And, by the way, despite an extensive search on the term I could not verify your assertion that the word was used that way. Perhaps you can supply a reference.

I won't even dwell on the subject of how unlikely it is that Thomas served during WWII. My father was a young man when he served in the Pacific and he's 83 years old now.

In my post it was clear that I was not making fun of USO performers. I was making light of Thomas's assertion that he might be one of them....and yet, in spite of this and the possibility that Thomas is a charlatan who has hijacked an SI account you have chosen to believe and defend him.

Furthermore, if Thomas is lying, it is he that is mocking the USO that you so much cherish. I bet you didn't think of that did you?

Gee, if I didn't know better I'd say that it's almost as though you're coming to Thomas's defense for reasons other than the one you have stated. I am curious though. Why isn't Thomas coming to his own defense?

I think it's time to pull up your leotards and dance some more.
