You won't have to move to chase those good jobs. They're gonna pay those overseas folks burger flipper wages anyway. You can stay here and get a job at McDonalds and do just as well.
The root cause of entitlements? What is the root cause? I don't think there is one cause. There are multiple reasons that there are stresses in the system. When I was saying print up more money, I was in part being a little cheeky, as this seems to be the Bush administration's solution to fighting a war.
And it is true that once the boomers are through the system that will reduce the payments that have been promised. But that does not mean that we should print money to pay for that. We need to look at all the reasons for the problems, not rely on a single solution. You failed to mention that I also said we can get through this by a number of actions. Reducing entitlements, deficit spending, increase in taxes or some combination.
But when corporations are allowed to raid the country and not contribute to community, there will soon be no community. This is a key problem, and this is where the solution will ultimately be found.
If you don't have jobs, you don't have consumers. They can't pay taxes either. This leads to downward spiral of reduced taxes, income and quality of life.
To reverse this situation, trade in free trade for fair trade. End overseas havens for corporations. Create new jobs in our economy. Support family wage jobs in our country. This is the back bone of the country, if you don't do this the country is going to go to hell in a handbasket.
So long as the money and jobs are hemoraging out of the country, the SS problem cannot be fixed without printing money. Thus getting back to my tongue and cheek comparison to Bush's printing money for his war on terror. It's simply bad policy, and does not get at the root cause, indeed!
