No one that thought about war before it started expected the restructuring of Iraq to be the easy part.

I agree with you. I did not agree with going into Iraq. I still haven't heard a good enough reason. But we're stuck with that decision and we have an obligation to finish the job. If we can't make it work, which is a possibility, it shouldn't be for lack of trying.
