Yogi:

I think that you are smart to switch to some other e-broker, E*Trade Customer Service and their servers have been bad since I joined 1 year ago. I'm not familiar with Datek....but would like to know more about them.

Account transfers are easy -- just fill out the Account Transfer form with your new broker.

Any easy way to do the transfer -- the easiest way (I'm guessing) is to sell everything you have at E*Trade and go pick up a check from them.

From the E*Trade Sucks thread on SI -- I gather that E*trade has been dragging their feet when it comes to processing account transfers...and thus it can take some time (1 month or more) to get the transfer done.

Regarding Lombard...a friend of mine has an account with Lombard. He says that Lombard has problems (at times) with their Tele-Broker system...but their servers via the WWW seem to be less flakey than E*Trade.

Hope this helps. I don't know whether to switch my account back to Schwab or Lombard or Datek. They all seem to have some faults -- with E*Trade leading the fault pack -- in fact...way out in front.
