<"Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If this threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words, and all recriminations would come too late. Trusting in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein is not a strategy, and it is not an option." - President George W. Bush, State of the Union Address, January 2003. >
The threat wasn't "imminent". There wasn't any threat at all. None of his neighbors were worried, not even Israel, which probably had much better intelligence than we did. The inspectors WERE working. This whole war was based on lies and cooked intelligence. We were conned by the neo-cons, who had a secret agenda of their own. Bush was either complicit, or was conned as well, and either is cause for impeachment. |
