A major factor in the Bush (41) recession was the reckless fiscal policy pursued by the Reagan Administration. Budget deficits do matter and Bush paid the political price for Reagans increasing the national debt over two fold. Hard to believe the debt was under one Trillion dollars when Reagan took office.
