I don't know if it can ever be cleaned up but I'd sure like to see some progress on nailing shorters who take steps to realize their profits via extra-legal means, at the expense of the rest of the shareholders, with negative commentary and warnings that have little basis in fact.

On the Yahoo thread someone is posting the worst case scenarios painted by a satellite operator's Chapter 11 (liquidation, making the satellite fleet burn up in the atmosphere) as well as KVHI's indication that in such an instance they would have to retrofit gear they's sold to mariners which used that sat company's signals, at a large cost to KVH.

Legal requirements dictate that the worst case scenarios be included in public filings but that doesn't mean the worst case is at hand nor does it quantify the risks to either company of the worst coming to pass. In the sat. company' situation that fleet of birds has substantial intrinsic value and the likelihood that they'd be destroyed intentionally is pretty low, IMHO. What that translates into risk for KVH is an unknown but it is a risk factor that investors should keep in mind - but that doesn't mean the Sky is Falling, the Sky is Falling! as a certain subtle Chicken Little would have investors believe so they'll dump their stock, allowing the shorts to close out positions at low prices.
