"coastal states" I think refers to the term "left coast" mostly. Not really that there is a coast, of course there is, but I don't believe Maine is included for example. But hey, if Texas, which is a coastal state in the true sense is experiencing a decline in Christianity then lets include 'em in the discussion!!
