But the rate of outsourcing is not linear. It is now accelerating, and those high-tech and manufacturing jobs are never coming back. Actually, jobs might return to the US in 50 years or so, when we are once more the low cost producer. Of course, the standard of living will have significantly deteriorated by then for the great majority of the population. Except for the very rich, that is.
