Ford and GM are blaming California car tax and fires for poor sales. At the same time Toyota Oct U.S. vehicle sales up 11.7%. At the same time California is bigger slice of Toyota sales than for Ford/GM.

EDIT: Apparently everyone who wanted to buy Ford/GM 2003 vehicles has already done so (mostly in September). People who wants 2004 models are waiting for bigger rebates.

EDIT2. May be high gas price is finally making people not to buy big trucks.

EDIT3. May be people don't have money any more to pay $30,000 - $40,000 for a big SUV.
