Tim, re: All government spending is discretionary What planet are you from? On this planet, veterans benefits, social security, almost all government spending is not discretionary. Do you see just a bit of a difference between those expenses and sending 100's of thousands of troops overseas, playing shock and awe with expensive ordinance, occupying the country, then setting up a social welfare system, then rebuilding the countries infrastructure? Ever wonder where we would be right now if we hadn't started the Iraq debacle? How would the world be different? Better or worse? John
