He is an author and I am attributing the source of an opinion with which I disagree. As I do for those opinions with which I agree.
Yes, but continuing to say "But, you said ..." and pecking away on those specifics is missing the point. Who here ... or for that matter Moore himself ... treats the book like a bible whose every utterance is pure and holy? Nobody. Focusing on such things is missing the real point.
In my opinion the theory around which he based...is flawed.
Have you read his other books?
And, what do you mean by "flawed"? Are we talking about some mathematical proof where an incorrect substitution means that the whole proof is invalid? Or are we talking about a set of interrelated perceptions to help understand how high tech companies grow, fail, succeed wildly, succeed narrowly, etc., etc., and yes, even some idea as to whether they might last longer than most such companies and control their markets more strongly ... and which just might be of interest to you as an investor, unless you are a day trader or formula-based investor who has no need to understand companies and markets?
And as far as persistent problems, well one of the more persistent problems on this board is a lack of receptivity to critical thinking in opposition to openly espoused positions.
Well, John, I'm afraid I have to politely disagree with you here. There have been some long standing and significant differences of opinion on this board which have been debated at considerable length. Where the "please go away" has come in is where people have been abusive in their manner of presentation. Often these seem to be just attention seekers out to get their attention any way they can. You are unusual in combining some good thinking and ideas worth discussing with a manner which is unpleasant and offputting. For me, the things you had to say were worth enough consideration to keep reading anyway ... at least much of the time ... but I don't find it hard to see why someone would decide it wasn't worth the bother. Other boards, other styles, but it just isn't the way we like to behave around here. |
