Rather difficult to consider, because in Hindi (the Indian National Language), India is referred to as "Hindustan" - the land of the Hindus (as a rough translation).

What has that to do with anything? Jinna took a part of Hindustan away from Hindus and turned it into Pakistan. If the Indians had reacted like the Arabs did, their topmost priority would have been to destroy Pakistan, even if they had to use the refugees as pawns, just as the Arab states did. It's not as if the Arab refugees from Palestine differed in culture, language or religion from the populations of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, where they wound up.
