Yogi,

While it is in the public interest to be educated regarding the actual cost (both in lives and in tax $$$) of our excursion in Iraq, I disagree with you about the media coverage.

Many news outlets (PBS, CNN, and Reuters among others) regularly update the number of dead. In addition, the anchors (or texts) usually stress "...since President Bush declared an end to major combat operations", in an apparent attempt to poke fun of the President.

The number of dead in Iraq is a fact, and there is rarely (if ever) a valid reason to keep facts from being reported. However, obsessing over the daily count clearly plays into the intent of the terrorists, especially when Judy Woodruff leads each broadcast with "Yet ANOTHER US soldier was killed in Iraq today..."

How ever did this country sustain WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and other conflicts that lasted more than 3 months, at the cost of TENS of THOUSANDS of lives?

By the way, does anyone know how many Americans have been killed in New York City, or Washington DC, or Detroit, since March 20th?
