In fact, Saddam used to be their enemy too.
Which is why paid he $25,000 to the families of Islamic militants who committed suicide bombings, right? Why his intelligence people sought a liaison with Al-Qaeda in 1998...
And using that definition, the Saudis are their enemies too... despite being one of the primary sources of funding and religious support for them..
The "problem", my dear Sam, is the the economic and political stagnation which persists in the Mid-East. Was Saddam blatantly supporting Al-Qaeda? Not really. But did they have goals in common? Certainly...
The fact is that Saddam was a detriment to creating the regional stability so necessary to the economic and political progress that is the primary strategy for defeating the Islamic militants.
But the real problem with you (for more than the umpteenth time), is that you can't accept the fact that this nation WAS COMMITTED TO WAR without your approval.
And since you, and the rest of your self-serving, self-centered, know-it-all ilk, didn't approve of the war, you're entitled to undermine the nation's war effort, EVEN IF IT PLACES THE LIVES OF US TROOPS AT RISK!!
There used to be a time when the losers involved in a national debate would accept defeat and rally in support of achieving victory for the nation.
But no.. the national debate never ends, even if it winds up providing aid and comfort to the enemy. It's doesn't matter than the Islamic militants are keen followers of the news in the US, as well as public opinion. After all, that's THE ENTIRE GOAL OF TERRORISM IS TO INFLUENCE PUBLIC OPINION AND WEAKEN THE ENEMY'S WILL TO RESIST!!!
So Sam.. I have NO respect for people who do what you do in politicizing the fallen. And I can betcha that the those who have died in Iraq would be equally disgusted to know how people like yourself are attempting to diminish the ultimate sacrifice they made.
The reality is you are trying to play politics with dead soldiers.. And that's utterly contemptible. Hawk |
