Toronto stocks fall United Press International - August 11, 1997 11:28 %FINANCIAL %STKS %TORONTO V%UPI P%UPI TORONTO, Aug. 11 (UPI) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's 300 composite index has fallen 52.81 points to 6,842.34 in early trading. The narrower TSE-100 index is down 3.68 points at 411.88 today, while the Toronto-35 index has slipped 3.95 points to 363.37. 1Trading volume totals 20 million shares worth 320 million Canadian dollars (U.S. $229.7 million). Declining stocks outnumber advances 407-287, with 236 stocks unchanged. Twelve of the TSE's 14 subgroups are lower, with utilities down 87.94 points at 5,592.50. Active stocks include ZI Corp., up 55 Canadian cents (39 U.S. cents) at 3.50 Canadian dollars (U.S. $2.51) and London Insurance, down 5 Canadian cents (4 U.S. cents) at 27.15 Canadian dollars (U.S. $19.49). Large price changers include Northern Telecom, down 3.15 Canadian dollars (U.S. $2.26) at 141.10 Canadian dollars (U.S. $101.27), and ATS Automation, up 3.05 Canadian dollars (U.S. $2.19) at 40.05 Canadian dollars (U.S. $28.74).
