Regarding AIDS, it is not clear to me what the marginal difference in offensiveness is between the text from the script and what Reagan actually said, assuming the latter was accurately reported. So I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Surely not about whether it's an exact quote. Stories like that typically don't restrict themselves to exact quotes. The resulting movie would be unwatchable.

If the fuss is simply that there are unflattering things about a President in a movie, I can understand that concern. It's unfortunate when Presidents do unflattering things. And it's unfortunate when we point them out tastelessly. It would be better to hold that until after they've been dead for a while.

If the movie is just plain wrong on the substance, however, and is nothing but a smear job, well, that's horrid. I do not have enough information to assess whether that's the case or not. I can understand why one might be suspicious. Babs is definitely a hot button.
