You are pre-concluding that all criminals use new guns when in fact they usually use used stolen guns. The "prints" are taken at the manufacturing site and will bear little resemblence to the majority of used firearms after as little as 200 rounds. If you read my post carefull I say a barrel is worn out after 10000 rounds and needs to be replaced. The printing matching abilities are lost after only a couple hundred rounds. Look at the scientific studies and results. They couldn't make matches the vast majority of the time. Maryland has this system and has solved zero crimes. The trace will tell you the last legal owner...not the identity of the guy who stole the gun from the last legal owner and then went on a robbery or killing rampage! The police already have the police report from the last legal owner who had his gun stolen. The printing system will tell the police the information they already know!
