I think he's done the most damage of any President we've had in my lifetime, not even close.
I was nodding along with you, and then you threw that line in. I don't know what he has done that causes that big a reaction from you. On a personal level, I would not have ever wanted to spend any time with him, drunk or sober, and he and I have both been there. So if you don't like his beady little eyes and smirk, or his piety, or his strut, I can understand.
What else? On Foreign Affairs, I think he has done the right thing. Hindsight is 20/20, and we can all point to mistakes, but they are mistakes of commission. He has been a strong President overseas.
I considered the Kyoto Treaty a disaster. No use trying to "Sugarcoat" it, and Bush didn't. With Russia's withdrawal from it, it's over. The sooner the better. The left, who loved it, will continue to use it as an issue.
I consider Carter to have caused us more harm in the last century than any other. He tried to hand South America to the Leftist Thugs. Russia would never have invaded Afghanistan if Carter hadn't been seen by them as a weakling. He fumbled the ball terribly in Iran. Before the Hostages.
Clinton's mistakes in FA were all ones of omission. He was weak when he should have been strong, and we paid for it on 911.
The most terrible thing to have is a President who is perceived overseas as a "Weakling." Kennedy came over as being weak when he met with Khrushchev. And he chickened out at the Bay of Pigs. That is why Khrushchev moved missiles to Cuba and brought us to the brink of Thermonuclear War. Osama Bin Laden got away with attacking us without any real attempt to kill him. That was a major cause of 911.
Domestically, I see no reason for your "Worst Prez ever" attitude. He is a conservative, and pushing that platform. But no more than I expected. |
