You don't abdicate important things like your national defense to an organization that doesn't have your best interests at heart, or the will to enforce its own resolutions. How can you enforce a resolution when you have no army or legal jurisdiction? For those who have any vision, the UN is the framework for a true world org. We're not there yet but the hope is that one day we will be there. Of course, it doesn't help that the world's only superpower spit in the UN's face when it didn't get its way. Chalk up another one for ole Bushie!
