Favre’s treatment: Going deer hunting

The Associated Press

A hairline fracture of right thumb didn’t prevent Brett Favre from rifling passes at the Metrodome or hunting for deer in the Wisconsin woods.

Less than 12 hours after a season-saving victory over the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers’ ironman quarterback took advantage of an extra day off to go bow hunting in the sleet and snow.

Coach Mike Sherman gave his players an extra day off after a 30-27 victory that narrowed the Vikings’ lead over the Packers to two games in the NFC North Division.

Only players who needed treatment reported to work on Monday, and that didn’t include Favre, who played with a tape-covered plastic splint on his right thumb.

“The only treatment he seems to employ is going out in the woods and going deer hunting with bow and arrow,” Sherman said.

“So, maybe that strengthens it.”
