No, I consider Israeli salvageable, a society much like that of, say, Mississippi in 1950 (and Sharon similar to George Wallace). Both societies based on good principles, with basically good people. They just need some nudging, to encourage them to extend freedom and democracy to everyone. If Mississippi had been an independent nation, they probably would still be treating their non-dominant race as badly as they did in 1950, and as badly as Israel has always treated Palestinians. If men like Governor Wallace and Senator Byrd and Trent Lot can distance themselves from the KKK, and accept the hated Others as equal humans, then Israelis like Sharon can too.

And if Israel can't do that, then they deserve no money, weapons, or support of any kind from the United States.
