..she thought the children were not seriously hurt when she left the accident scene."

With her past history of DUI driving convictions, I would guess that she was probably driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Leaving the accident scene was IMO a means to avoid being tested for drunk-driving....blood tests could not be given because she left the scene.

I would imagine that finding a judge and a jury who would sympathize with her would be difficult. I don't think she will easily get out of jail on bail before her trial.

" ..."Can I bail maybe just to set my affairs?" the Colombian native asked in accented English.

Eaton set her bail at $305,000 at least until today, when she is expected to appear in court with a lawyer. Deputy district attorney Paul Sequeira had argued for no bail.

After the hearing, Sequeira said he wants her in jail because he considers her a threat to the community.

"She's clearly not safe out on the streets," he said."
