Ten, re: Is Clinton truly a "fiscal conservative," or was he one just to win votes and stay in office? Conservative is as conservative does, forget the rhetoric. And of course it's all about the votes. re: If the former, then why is he supporting every single budget-busting social program that is being passed by Congress and signed by Bush? Because there are no "consequences". The better question is why is Bush signing them? Bush is no fiscal conservative, and there are real consequences, for his reelection. Clinton ended up a slight fiscal conservative/ a slight social liberal, which gave him a big base of support. Bush is proving to be a strong fiscal liberal/ a strong social conservative, not a big base. 9/11 and his Afghanistan response created a huge bank of support, that he is currently squandering with his fiscal policy, and with his Iraq policy. re: Conspiracy theory: What if Democrats want to exacerbate the health care situation so much that voters will only want to go for Hillary-care?
