"You know, it never ceases to amaze me. Anyone who comments on the loopy way Apple has conducted business the last year is somehow a Microsoft loyalist."

Which "loopy" things are you referring to? Buying NeXT? Authorizing cloning? Getting two major software releases out on time? Improving product quality? Shoring up established markets? Firing the Board of Directors? Delivering improved Newtons and the new eMate? Getting the great new laptops on the street?

Ok, the Amelio firing was ham-fisted. It could have been handled better.

If you feel that having poor PR and marketing is "loopy" then, you have a point.

As for me accusing anyone of being a "Microsoft loyalist," well, when did I do that? I suppose there are a bunch of folks in Redmond that could be considered "loyalists." And, true, MSFT has many happy investors, but I wouldn't call them "Microsoft loyalists."

As a near monoploly, MSFT has a license to print money_for now. Needless to say that kind of company has been a good investment. But, as for growth potential, well, Micosoft has pretty well saturated its markets and I think Apple has more upside. Time will tell.
