Florida is the only southern state that really matters. The Dems have New England and the West coast, the GOP has the deep south and most of the western range states. The battleground is in the midwest, Florida and southwest. This only changes when one candidate blows away the other with charisma, or in some other way. I believe Kerry-Clark could blow away Bush-Cheney in a few states they think belong to them and win every state Gore did plus NH, Arkansas and Florida. I think Dean would lose in a landslide.
