Truman,

Many thanks for the pointer to the news article! Yahoo doesn't seem to pick up on news articles and press releases from Bandai.

From a consumer perspective I am glad to see competition in the virtual pet market. Competition ensures that new and more interesting pets will continue to be developed (like the "mating tamagotchis" Bandai mentions in the article). If virtual pet technology were to stagnate, this toy would be a short-lived fad.

I just ran a search on infoseek for more articles about virtual pets. I saw quite a few articles about schoolmasters in various countries banning virtual pets in schools. I am glad to see this news, because their action pretty much ensures that every school student will want a virtual pet! :-)

Keeping my fingers crossed about Bandai's 40-million Tamagotchi sales prediction,

Kirk
