No one who really opposes this administration would write such a thing. Only a provacateur would write anything that even indirectly says further dead on either side is inevitable. The more truthful response from bitter opposition is what you said earlier about obituaries of killed American soldiers saying, "Contribute to the defeat of Bush"

I don't know who made that post to the Dem Underground, but it certainly wasn't any sincere opposition. This purpose of this piece is to combine bona fide criticism with a bogus destructive and convenient quote for GOP Dem bashers to get hysterical about at appropriate times. It'll fit nicely with the lockstep slogans by pundits and pols.

The idea is to convince Dems and independents into thinking that supporting Dems means killing Americans, rather than the reverse. It's classic propaganda. You won't see anyone supporting this particular piece, but will see hysterical GOP ravings in the next 2 weeks, and again later in the campaign.

This is exactly the same technique as the racist cartoon shown yesterday to accuse the Dems who opposed the GOP-nominated judge Carolyn Kuhl. The cartoon was magically produced by Orrin Hatch "from a website" at the hearings, then again at the GOP tantrum, by saying, "The Democrats didn't produce this cartoon, but look at this", etc., in a pure and shameful propaganda ploy to convince the weak-minded that somehow some Democrat opposed the judge due to her race, when the truth is that the GOP clearly had more to do with the cartoon than any Democrat. It only works on the weak-minded. But it works with a lot of politicians...<g>
