"I killed so many women, I have a hard time keeping them straight," Ridgway wrote in a 16-page statement read by King County prosecutors yesterday as part of an historic plea deal sparing Ridgway's life. If a monster like Gary Ridgeway, who pleads guilty to aggravated murder in the deaths of 48 women, is not sentenced to death, it's going to be awfully hard to justify giving someone the death sentence for killing only one or two people. I think Norm Maleng (the King County prosecuting attorney) best be dusting off his resume, because I suspect he won't be re-elected in the next election.
