The "iminent threat" was made crystal clear. Many-many times.
Bush never said it was imminent. Virtually all of his speeches are on the Net someplace. Show us where he said the threat was imminent.
In fact (there's that word again, "fact"), Bush said in his State of the Union speech:
Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If this threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words, and all recriminations would come too late. Trusting in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein is not a strategy, and it is not an option.

Bush clearly acknowledged the argument that the threat was not imminent. He did NOT say, "Oh, but wait, it IS imminent." He said nothing of the sort. What he said, instead, is that the lessons to be learned from the past behavior of Saddam and other tyrants, as well as from terrorists, is that you don't get a formal notice that a threat has been converted to an "imminent" one. Instead, you should deal with the threats BEFORE they become imminent.
Bush said that time and time and time again. Deal with it before it becomes imminent, lest you not realize it has become imminent until it is too late. That was the message.
Your misstatements are just spin, and false spin at that. You talk so much about lying, you should read your own posts to discover what it is. |
