John > Seems those tribal differences in Iraq will play out if we leave next week or 5 years from now
IMO, the sooner the US leaves "officially" the more important the tribal differences will be and the more chance there will be for a puppet government to run the place by divide-and-rule. In fact, there may be no alternative other than another ruthless dictator, like Saddam, who, in fact, was originally a CIA "work-of-art".
The longer the US stays, the more the opposition to the US presence will unite the various tribes, the traditionally warring parties and, in fact, Muslims all over the world. This will, in fact, be the unintended consequence of the US invasion and, indeed, the trap into which the US has fallen.
Of course, just like the monkey who got his arm caught in a jar of nuts because he wouldn't let go of any, the US has been trapped because it won't let go of the oil.
And, one mustn't forget that, unlike the monkey, the US has its other arm (or is it a leg?) caught in Afghanistan while trying to suck out Central Asian oil.
And, to complete the picture, the US' testicles are between Ariel Sharon's teeth! |
