Wireless Week: Kendra VanderMeulen Q&A

wirelessweek.com

Dave Cosgrave, Toronto ON: Most recent survey data I've seen indicates a very small number of customers have ever used a wireless data service (~%2-3). In your opinion, how long before we see "mainstream" adoption?

Kendra VanderMeulen: I have seen the same statistics. This is, of course, a huge opportunity. I think the growth for some kinds of applications (SMS, personalization, and games) is beginning to accelerate. Very soon, we should see a viral impact of this trend, which could make the growth exponential. In other words, I think awareness is the first barrier and that word of mouth will eliminate this problem very soon. After that, usability and accessibility are also issues, but they are improving everyday. Relevant applications are also important. Our attempts to remove the economic barriers to getting broad reach for application should help with this concern.
