I lament the waste of resources, and the guilt shunted onto the backs of parents. If parents choose to live with a grossly deformed child, fine, but they shouldn't have to- especially since technology allows such grossly deformed infants to survive now, and in the past parents would not have been forced to make the decision- I don't think the decision should be made for them by technology, in terms of what can survive with technology must be allowed to live. Want to know something really funny? Often the same people wanting to save damaged infants are the same people (in the media) cranky about the budgets for special ed- and special ed isn't ANYTHING compared to hospital care. I find that rather amusing.
