"but I'm agnostic about supernatural fantastic creatures of some type existing somewhere (like Karen is agnostic about some divine creator)."

EXACTLY.

Which brings us back to what he was saying....that agnosticism can be applied to any fanciful concept...

In order for agnosticism to be other than intellectual evasion, one must assume some evidentiary basis--both pro and con--whatever the topic addressed.

As regards the nature of reality: there has never been other than fancy to support ideas of Ultimate Beings or Ultimate Power. However...there IS overwhelming evidence for the mutability and the finitude of ALL forms of matter. Matter is basically congealed energy. Whether energy has an irreducible base is unknown; but in any event it is uninformative as to concepts of omniscience.

When agnosticism is simply mouthing the opinion that ANY conception might reflect objective reality...it is gurgling in the commonplace: A goat will browse where it is tied...
