I'm not sure if I posted this here or If you have seen it.

I had heard about a year ago that PDG was a target due to their low shareprice.

Perhaps this scenario where its bought by a group and torn apart and the best fitting pieces go where they fit best could be real.

Personally I hope not it is getting tougher and tougher to find reasonable value and quality gold companies.

And yes they for sure would use shares to make a purchase, this seems like all speculation to me. Its ok I own PDG and I am happy to see it get a kick in the but. I think it is undervalued relative to its peers.

Barrick I dont know what to make of, I think too much is made of their hedgebook problems. I think they have the resources to deal with it. I still wouldn't buy it however as I think they have other problems like declining production the next few years but this may be a symptom that most of the gold industry will experience in the coming decade as there are not many big undeveloped deposits sitting around. I could be wrong and ABX could get hit bad if gold move to 450 or beyond. I wonder at what point their parts become worth more than the whole as the share price has really lagged. I'm ranting a bit but perhaps the best thing for ABX would be to buy some unhedged gold. They also have a few development projects but they are several years away from pouring gold.

PDG actually is sitting on a few big development projects including a new discovery in Nevada and is one reason why I really like them especially at higher gold prices where the economics of these development projects become more robust. PDG could overtake ABX in production in the next few years.

To finish my rant yes I think NEM has other things planned for that cash most likely for developing of their own projects instead of going to the bank. Never hurts to have a billion in the bank for a rainy day and these guys usually know when to go to the trough.
