The real estate buying/selling situations I found myself in during the sudden market turnaround of the mid-1990s had nothing to do with Greenspan, believe me.

It was caused by a bunch of people who all got the same idea at the same time, which was to suddenly get into competitive bidding for a limited supply of available houses.

The sellers were older--had the money to buy up to more space to accommodate teenaged children, or leave town for sunnier skies as retirees. The buyers were all younger, buying their first or second home, because they needed more space than their apartments or small homes were providing.
