Our military are being slaughtered and we want that to stop but cannot control the situation.

Then I guess we're committing genocide on the enemy.. Because we're definitely killing more of them than they are of us..

It's hardly a slaughter.. But it's certaining a regrettable consequence of war that people on all sides die.
