There is an interesting and perhaps inevitable dynamic that's also taking place, at least in Louisiana, involving the perception on the part of black voters that the Democratic party has taken them for granted. As a result, more and more middle class blacks are willing to give the GOP a look since, obviously, the GOP does not take the black vote for granted. Quite the opposite, in fact, as it is actively doing whatever it can to court it.

A guy like Jindal could bring a lot of blacks into the GOP fold not only because he is truly color-blind but also because of the perception that, unlike the Dems, he won't promise them what he can't or won't deliver.
