Stocks, besides metal stocks, do exist and actually
account for most of the trading on major exchanges.
DOW, S&P, and NASDAQ have done very well in 2003,
despite goldbug predictions of gloom and doom.
If the US economy does well (GDP growth at low inflation),
you can still make money in old boring non-metal stocks.
