The only reference to zinc sulfate in the FAQ is:

Haven't there been studies indicating that zinc is ineffective?

ZICAM® Cold Remedy has been clinically proven to be effective at reducing the duration and severity of the common cold. Clinical studies of zinc-based cold relief products that use different active zinc formulations (for example, Zinc Sulfate versus ZICAM®'s Zincum Gluconicum), different delivery systems and lower doses of zinc have had differing results.

I interpret this to mean that products containing zinc sulfate have been shown to be less effective than Zicam, which contains zinc gluconate. They compare the two zinc compounds because they are different, not because they have the same efficacy. Who are you trying to fool? What does this have to do with side effects anyway? Two completely different products with exactly the same efficacy might have different side effects. Once again, you are comparing apples to oranges. Good night, Floyd.
