I don't think it was Clintons bubble or Bush's bust. But the next generation is going to have to pay for Bush lack of spending discipline, the Iraq war, and the tax cuts, at the same time they are paying for the Baby Boomers retirement.

I agree with all of this, EXCEPT that it is "Bush's" lack of spending dicipline. Presidents don't spend. Congress does. True, presidents can veto legislation, and in unusual circumstances it can be done. But in reality, if Congress wants to spend money it is very difficult, from a practical perspecive, for the president to stop it.

As to Social Security, it is the single biggest domestic threat we face, and I think Bush will be hammered for not having taken steps to deal with it before the election. In fairness, the liberals shut down the privatization of SS, which is the only real way out of the mess.

The SS problem is at the feet of the Democrats. They created the mess and they turned it into the political football it is using scare tactics.
