Yes, I have known about the unified budget for a long time. In reality, the government cannot escape its promises on Social Security. The Boomer generation won't let them. Keeping those promises will inflect a lot of economic pain on the Xers but that's their problem. If they are dumb enough to support Bush fiscal policies, they deserve what they get.
