This al Hage story seems to be a red herring. The reason I believe that it is bogus is because of Perle connection mentioned in the story. No one in their right mind would take a peace proposal to Perle. The Iraqis wouldn't be that naive. They understood that their best hope lay in the UN, and after that, possibly with the US State Department.
