Oh. Now I get it. I am not able to relate but I understand the logic. I am stuck on how it works. If by dying you become extinct in body and essence, how do you associate yourself with a “higher good” that is apparently beyond yourself and absolutely separated on your extinction. The only way I can imagine that is if one were to have a self-hate in association with a love for the world you are departing. I am pretty sure that is not what you meant, so I will hold further comment at this time and give you a chance to clarify.
