Of course I did. On this thread, I have, many times, taken Administration speeches and think-tank position papers, and done a line-by-line dissection. I could have done that here (would you like me to?), but it has been done elegantly by others, so I posted it.
To sum up: If we would only do what our leaders say we are doing, if our actions would come anywhere near our noble rhetoric, then I would support the President 100%.
After 9/11, and through Regime Change in Afghanistan, I was a flag-waving jingoistic militarist, who fully supported the Neocon's program, and posted my support, in detail. I took the President at his word, trusted him, and fully supported his actions. But, since then, I see a widening disconnect between words and actions, and my initial unqualified enthusiastic support has changed to near-total opposition.
We are the champions of despotism in the Middle East. We back a collection of thugs, kings, emirs, dictators, warlords, who systematically violate every principle in the U.S. Constitution. Our army in Iraq, is doing what the Redcoats did at Lexington and Concord. And we are headed for a Yorktown, if we keep on the road we are on. |
