So you think senators should assume the White House is lying when they vote on a military matter?

Of course there were political ramifications to the vote, and it was not clear either way which was 100% right or wrong, but Kerry sure called it. His warnings to Bush pre-invasion turned out to be 100% correct.

What hurt Kerry was the fact that Dean is the only major anti-war candidate and he's practically from New Hampshire. That was a bit of bad luck. Kerry needs New Hampshire. Though now he would look like a winner if he could just close the gap and tie Dean there.

Remember Kerry is running against 4 other major candidates more moderate candidates. Dean has the anti-war vote and money all to himself. That's why everyone thinks Dean is the frontrunner. If Lieberman and Gephardt would drop out, Kerry would probably be the frontrunner. Also, if Dean had been a senator which way would he have voted? No one knows. He didn't have to make that difficult yes or no choice on a complex issue.
